| Andrea Tofanelli During the week of December 12 th (2005) LMP Studios welcomed from Rome, Italy the truly phenomenal talents of trumpeter Andrea Tofanelli . Andrea is the top call trumpet player in Rome and Milan, Italy and has a great international reputation as a trumpet artist. His ability to play the trumpet in the jazz and classical idioms is at the virtuoso level and he has developed a simply astounding ability to play in the high register. Legendary Los Angeles trumpeter Malcolm McNab contacted LMP President Jim Linahon and informed him that Mr. Tofanelli was doing a tour of the U.S. and would be available for concerts/clinics or recording sessions. Malcolm had met Andrea during a tour of Italy and informed Jim that this Italian trumpeter was a truly amazing artist and a wonderful man. So, with a recommendation like that from Malcolm, Jim helped arrange a concert featuring Andrea with the Artisan Brass Quintet on Monday evening and a recording session the following Tuesday morning. Jim asked well know L.A. composer Brent Pierce to create a work to feature Andrea with the quintet covering a wide range of styles from jazz to classical. Brent created a three-movement work entitled "Festiva Romano" . The Tuesday morning recording session started at 10:00 am and finished at 11:30 am with the entire suite recorded and ready for mix. The playing level was superb and the music and musicians had a relaxing, fun filled morning session recording this wonderful new work by Brent Pierce! And yes - Andrea Tofanneli's playing was truly inspiring - indeed amazing! The Artisan Brass members are John Arranda (trumpet), Jerry Garvin (Fr. Horn), Greg Woll (trombone), Tony Mazzaferro (tuba) and Jim Linahon (trumpet). |

The following day Jim, his wife Zenash and Andrea were invited by Malcolm McNab to visit a film orchestral recording session of composer Allen Sylvestri at Todd AO Studios in Hollywood. Jim, Zenash and Andrea met Malcolm and L.A. trumpeters Rick Baptist , John Lewis , and Warren Luening for lunch and spent the afternoon listening to these great trumpeters perform a superb soundtrack for a new Walt Disney film "Wild Thing II" . Andrea enjoyed getting to know these wonderful fellow trumpeters and the day ended with a lovely meal at LA's famous garlic restaurant "The Stinking Rose" . The recording with Andrea Tofanelli will be available on a new CD by the Artisan Brass with completion of the CD currently scheduled for final recording in late June and early July. The CD should be released on ACM Records in September. For more information and performance schedules for Andrea Tofanelli go to www.andreatofanelli.com |
