| Silvergate Trio In May the international Silvergate Trio came to LMP Studios to record their newest Piano Trio CD. This superb trio consists of Thomas Stauffer cellist, Cynthia Darby pianist, and Felix Olschofka violin. The group recorded five diverse works - the first movement of Haydn's Trio No.43 , Schostakowitsch's Trio No. 1 , and Schumann's Trio Opus 63 and two Tango's "Oblivion" and "Primavera Portena" by Astor Piazzolla arranged for Piano Trio by José Bragato . This trio started their session at 1:00 p.m. finished at 6:30 p.m. and recorded slightly over seventy minutes of some of the most challenging and exciting music in the classical music repertoire. In addition to their brilliant technical skills the Silvergate Trio played with superb musical interpretation and great depth of emotion. It was truly a delight for producer Jim Linahon to hear such diverse musical styles performed with such aplomb and nuance. Suffice it to say the time literally flew by! And a good thing too. Violinist Felix Olschofka was leaving for Germany the next day and Thomas Stauffer and Cynthia Darby were leaving for Portugal in 9 hours! This is the second CD that producer Jim Linahon has worked on with Thomas Stauffer and Cynthia Darby. They first worked together on the duo CD "French Sonatas for Cello and Piano " which was released in 2001 and met with outstanding critical acclaim. It featured the music of Debussy, Koechlin and Magnard . This newest project holds the same standard of excellence as their previous CD and promises listeners a very diverse yet truly enchanting spectrum of music spanning over two centuries! LMP will refer you to the appropriate source to obtain this outstanding new CD upon its release. Stay tuned for more info!
