Ken Song
Great Jazz Guitarist

Ken Song
Llew, Ken, Luther and Paul
Llew Matthews

In July guitarist Ken Song came into LMP Studios to record his first solo jazz CD.   Ken is a well-known young professional guitarist in the Los Angeles basin and appears regularly at several of the top jazz clubs in the southland.   He has steadily been building a reputation for excellence with his wonderful jazz skills.

Ken's obvious influences include jazz guitar legends Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery and Jim Hall .    A graduate of the U.S.C. Guitar Program, Ken studied with the brilliant guitarist/teacher Frank Potenza. Obviously Frank is very proud of Ken's work and when you listen to this new CD by Ken you will understand why.   This CD is smokin' !

Joining Ken on this wonderful musical endeavor were some of LA's absolutely finest Jazz musicians.   Bassist Luther Hughes , Drummer Paul Kreibich and Pianist Llew Matthews brought their giant chops and expertise to make this a superb jazz session.   Jim Linahon engineered the project and joked with Ken

"Too bad you could only get great players for your first CD..."

Many of you will undoubtedly recognize all these names - Llew Matthews was Nancy Wilson's musical director for years and is both a great jazz pianist and wonderful arranger/conductor. Paul Kreibich is perhaps the busiest jazz drummer in the Los Angeles jazz scene and you may note he is on several web pages here from various other sessions at LMP.   Paul also is the drummer for the Grammy nominated Cannonball-Coltrane Project* that Luther Hughes directs.

By the way, Luther in addition to being a world class bass player (Gene Harris, Quincy Jones, Joe Henderson, Carmen MacCrae, The Crusaders etc...) also served as the Producer on this project.

Ken and Luther along with engineer Jim Linahon mixed the CD in mid-August and it will be released after contracts are signed with a Jazz label in September. Stay tuned here for info on the CD title and release date.   This is one CD that serious jazz aficionados will have to have in their collection!
