LMP President and owner Jim Linahon has had a long and varied career in the music industry. A native of Clear Lake, Iowa, Jim graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1973 and was a graduate teaching assistant at North Texas State University from 1973-1975.   Moving to Los Angeles in 1975 Jim took a part-time college teaching position and went to work in the L.A. music scene as a free-lance trumpet artist. 29 years later he is still teaching young people at the college level and busier than ever in the professional music industry! 

An award winning music producer, Jim has created more than 300 recording projects for Film, Television, Radio, Musical Theater and CD/DVD's for a wide diversity of artists, studios and agencies. Included among these are Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Arsenio Hall, Johnny Carson, Merv Griffin, Sammy Davis Jr., Ella Fitzgerald, Henry Mancini, Sarah Vaughn, Beverly Sills, Warner Bros., Disney, Sony, ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, World Projects International, The United States Department of State and the United Nations.

Jim's Grammy, Emmy and Downbeat award winning projects include ABC's Network Series OCEANUS , NBC's Tournament of Roses Parade , The All American Boy's Choir & London Symphony (England), The Los Angeles Jazz Workshop, The Brass Machine (Australia), Yoshi Kono (Japan), The National Trombone Slide Quartet (Germany) and The SAYOWE Project   (Thailand).   Music for the opening of the EPCOT Center at Disney World and the unveiling of the refurbished Statue of Liberty also featured Jim's recording/production work. A selection from his classical trumpet CD "Gradus ad Parnassum " on Discovery/CBS records was chosen as the Official Fanfare for the United Nations for 1996-97.

In 1997 Jim served as a United States Jazz Ambassador for the U.S. State Department and toured on behalf of the United States throughout the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Jim produced the VHS/DVD of the NBC 2000 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony held in Sydney, Australia and in 2001 began construction on his production companies LMP Studios .   His most recent projects are now listed on this website!
