Kevin Myers Film Project

In late-October LMP was the site for the recording of new music for a pilot film by Producer Kevin Myers .   Many of you may know Kevin as the co-director of the Inland Pacific Ballet and as an outstanding photographer.   This new cinematic effort by Kevin combines state of the art digital film work with modern dance and a jazz film score.

Conceptually this film, with the working title "Leaving you..." deals with the difficult separation of a couple who are very much in love.   Yet they are facing the reality that love alone does not conquer the challenges of life and a relationship in the modern world.   Set in the steaming Hell's Kitchen area of New York, the film depicts both the angst of separation with the continued presence of love.   It seemed to fit perfectly with the Gordon Jenkins composition "Goodbye" which was chosen as the initial title song for the pilot.

The music for this film required traditional and modern jazz interpretations of Jenkins' sensuous and insightful composition. Selecting some of Los Angeles' best jazz artists, the musicians on this recording session were Bruce Babad - Sax / Joe Jewel - Guitar / Marcus Burger - Piano / Luther Hughes - Bass / and Matt Johnson - Drums .

These outstanding artists did a superb job of bringing the concept of the film into the emotion of the recorded music.

The session started at 10 am. and by 12:30 pm. the initial 20 minutes of music was "in the can".   The cinematic shoot of this story told through the lense of the camera and the art of the dance is "in progress" with shooting and editing expected to continue through March 2006.

LMP looks forward to working in post-production on this creative new approach to dance and cinema.   It promises enormously powerful artistic results! Stay tuned for more info.
