| Luther Hughes & The Cannonball In mid-January Luther Hughes & The Cannonball / Coltrane Project came into the LMP Studio to record their second CD with LMP engineer Jim Linahon. This outstanding group, whose music is an outgrowth and extension of the great artistry of John Coltrane and Julian "Cannonball" Adderley , achieved great success with their first CD release in 2005 ending up on the National Airplay list at #16 the last three months of the year! The groups new CD entitled "Second Helping" features both original works plus updated/revised standards and promises listeners a fantastic cross section of great jazz brilliantly performed. The Cannonball Coltrane project band consists of leader Luther Hughes - bass, Paul Kreibich - drums, Ed Czach - piano, Glenn Cashman - Tenor Sax and Bruce Babad - Alto Sax. Each of these artists has an extensive professional resume and collectively they have brought a huge array of talents to this very unique and exciting group. The critics' response to the first CD was a resounding yes... "Those saxes (Glenn & Bruce) really played their buns off...dazzlingly brilliant" --James Moody, jazz legend "This new band captures the excitement of that original band!" -- Comden, L.A. Jazz Scene "A 5 Star album all around. A beautiful job by all the players!" -- Howard Rumsey, jazz impresario With freshness of spirit and as much musical talent as one could ever imagine, The Cannonball / Coltrane Project recorded 14 songs over a two-day session at LMP and the musical results were very exciting.
