West Wind Brass

In early June, the nationally renowned Westwind Brass recorded two new major CD's of Classical and Jazz music for Brass Quintet with LMP Producer Jim Linahon in San Diego, California.
This superb ensemble represents some of the finest brass artists in the United States.   Members John Wilds and Frank Glasson (Trumpets) Barry Toombs (French Horn), Bill Yeager (Trombone), and Brent Dutton (Tuba) successfully achieved what only true master artists would dare attempt.

Westwind Brass recorded two completely unique, original CD's of ver y difficult brass art music - in two completely different styles (Classical & Jazz) - in two successive weekend recording sessions!

The skill and intellectual demands were very intense and at opposite ends of the artistic spectrum of brass playing. Combine that with two back to back weekends of two successive eight-hour days of recording each weekend, and you can see this was physically and intellectually no small feat.

For the recording sessions producer/engineer Jim Linahon used 5 Royer Labs R-121 ribbon mics   and 1 Royer SF-12 stereo microphone through Millenia   mic preamps to 24 bit Pro Tools HDIII . With this equipment Jim was able to record WWB in absolutely pristine audio . Dave Royer (creator of Royer Labs Mics) took a recording class from Jim in late 1988 and then went on to create these truly worldclass microphones.   Royer, Millenia and ProTools HDIII - simply the best!

The two Westwind Brass CD's are currently being mixed in post-production at LMP Studios and will be released in late September to what we believe will be outstanding critical acclaim.

Stay posted - more info on the way about these great CD's and artists!
