The Australian Jazz All-Stars & Bobby Shew On September 21, 2005 LMP Studios welcomed the Australian Jazz All-Stars and jazz trumpeter Bobby Shew for a one-day recording session during their tour of the United States. The group toured as part of World Projects International Music Festivals abroad program. The Australian All-Stars were featured at the renowned Monterey Jazz Festival in Monterey, CA on Saturday September 17 th . Following that weekend they gave concerts in San Francisco prior to traveling to Los Angeles for concerts here and the recording session at LMP Studios. Leaving LA the All-Stars finished their tour in San Diego working with trombonist Bill Yeager, Director of Jazz Studies at SDSU. The All-Stars are college students from all over the Australian nation who audition for the chance to tour in the U.S. and abroad. Steve Williams, a highly respected professional trumpet player and musical conductor from Sydney, Australia, directed the group. Steve and Producer/Engineer Jim Linahon had worked together about 10 years ago on a first rate CD by the Brass Machine - a professional jazz big band from Sydney, Australia. The All Stars recorded three works featuring the band and three pieces that featured vocalist Danielle Blakey. "Danielle is a wonderful singer with impeccable pitch, great style, and a voice that creates an immediate listener response - in short she is just fantastic" said engineer Jim Linahon. Joining the group for two numbers was jazz trumpeter Bobby Shew . Bobby has performed on tour in Australia several times and brought his masterful trumpet artistry into the studio to perform with these great young musicians. Bobby's work in the session was as usual excellent and the group gave him great backing on the two cuts. The All-Stars were great young musicians and very focused on creating a first class CD in one long and demanding day. The CD will be released in Australia and Internationally through World Projects International in December 2005 . For more information go to www.world-projects.com
