Marrying God / An AFI Film

In March LMP Studios welcomed composer/pianist Michael J. Gonzalez and film director Duke Johnson from the American Film Institute (AFI) to record the music soundtrack for their new AFI Film entitled "Marrying God."  

"Marrying God" stars Ashlyn Sanchez, Alexa Vega, Diana Franco and Jesse Garcia .   Ashlyn Sanchez may be familiar to you from her recent appearance in the 2006 Academy Awards - BEST PICTURE Oscar winning film "CRASH."   In fact, all four of these cast members have had major Film and TV releases in the last year!

The soundtrack recording session started at 6:30pm and was "in the can" by 9:30 p.m.!   Michael had written some very insightful and haunting works for piano that he performed "in sync" with LMP studio's AVID Mojo to a DV25 of the film - and Michael played beautifully!   The music he composed worked ver y effectively with the dramatic storyline written by Sage Wells.

" Marrying God" is the story of a young girl, Lola, on the day of her first communion. She wants to be just like her older sister, Ivy, who in her eyes, is perfect. Lola believes that her marriage to God will transform her into a perfect young lady, just like Ivy. When things don't go as planned, Lola realizes that Ivy's life is not as perfect as she once thought. This little girl discovers that by accepting imperfections, true purity can be found.   The film is both sensitive and powerful and reflects AFI's long tradition of outstanding short films.

The film is very well directed by Duke Johnson , produced by Quinn Yancey , with excellent cinematography by Joe Passarelli and film editing by Nathaniel Smith .

This production team did a great job on this thought provoking dramatic film - and the result is a first class product from beginning to end.
